Root Canal (Endodontic) Treatment
Once upon a time, if you had a tooth with a diseased nerve, you’d probably lose that tooth. Today, with a special dental procedure called a root canal therapy you may save that tooth. Inside each tooth is the pulp which provides nutrients and nerves to the tooth, it runs like a thread down through the root. When the pulp is diseased or injured, the pulp tissue dies. If you don’t remove it, your tooth gets infected and you could lose it. After the dentist removes the pulp, the root canal is cleaned and sealed off to protect it. Then your dentist places a crown over the tooth to help make it stronger. Most of the time, a root canal is a relatively simple procedure with little or no discomfort involving one to three visits. Best of all, it can save your tooth and your smile!
Cracked Tooth Restoration
A fractured or cracked tooth will sometimes cause sharp pain when you bite down on it, but not always. Sometimes the pain might come as you release pressure on the tooth. The symptoms may also be a sensitivity to cold or hot temperatures. If the split or fracture is caught early, it may be restored and can heal without complication. Apicoectomy (Endodontic Surgery)
The most common surgery to help save a tooth is called an Apicoectomy. When the bony area around your root is inflamed or diseased or if one the your tooth’s roots has a tiny crack that can not be seen on x-ray your dentist may refer you to our office to have an Apicoectomy performed.
Endotontic Re-Treatment
A frequent number of patients are referred to us from their regular dentist for Endodontic retreatment. As occasionally happens with any dental or medical procedure, a tooth may not heal as expected after initial treatment for a variety of reasons.
Veneers
There’s no reason to put up with gaps in your teeth or with teeth that are stained, badly shaped or crooked. Today a veneer placed on top of your teeth can correct nature’s mistake or the results of an injury and help you have a beautiful smile. Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front side of teeth. They’re made by a dental technician, usually in a dental lab, working from a model provided by your dentist. You should know that this is usually an irreversible process, because it’s necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate the shell. We will recommend that you avoid some foods and beverages that may stain or discolor your veneers such as coffee, tea or red wine. If you have any questions about veneers please contact us for a consultation.
Crowns
If you want a smile that’s your crowning glory, you may need a crown to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown can make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance. It can cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth left. It can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. It’s also used to cover a dental implant.
Bridges
If you’re missing one or more teeth, you may notice a difference in chewing and speaking. There are options to help restore your smile. Bridges help maintain the shape of your face, as well as alleviating the stress in your bite by replacing missing teeth. Sometimes called a fixed partial denture, a bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, looks great, and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been. The restoration can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials and is bonded onto surrounding teeth for support. Unlike a removable bridge, which you can take out and clean, a fixed bridge can only be removed by a dentist. An implant bridge attaches artificial teeth directly to the jaw or under the gum tissue. Depending on which type of bridge is recommended, its success depends on its foundation. So it’s very important to keep your remaining teeth healthy and strong.
Inlays / Onlays
If you have any minor damage or decay in your back teeth, you may not think it’s a big deal. After all, who really ever sees the back of your teeth? But if decay is allowed to continue unchecked in the back of your mouth, it can lead to infections, disease and even tooth loss. Inlays and onlays are restorative devices attached to the rear teeth. They seal up cracks and chips and help prevent decay. Inlays and onlays are typically made of porcelain, which resembles real teeth in both look and feel.

Silver or Mercury Filling Removal and Replacement
Most fillings before the 1990′s were silver amalgam fillings. These fillings have many problems. For one, they take up lots of space inside the molar, which weakens the tooth. Also, over time, these fillings expand, which can crack the tooth. Perhaps most importantly, silver fillings contain mercury. Mercury was thought to be safe at the time, but today we know that mercury is a very toxic substance. Exposure has been linked to a host of neurological and gastrointestinal problems. Dr. Babagoli specializes in filling replacement services and can help to ease your fears of toxic contaminants in your existing fillings.
